Mission Statement:

The MBA Ambassadors is an organization run by the SMG Graduate Admission Office. We welcome all current MBA students to join us in our recruiting endeavors. Our goal is to the increase the quality and diversity of the new class every year. MBA Ambassadors play an important role in helping the Admission team attain this objective. There are many ways MBA Ambassadors contribute to the program, such as participating in MBA fairs, sharing their MBA experience on a student panel, escorting prospective students on a class visit and calling admitted candidates to congratulate them on their acceptance to BU. By sharing their experiences with prospective students, MBA Ambassadors have the opportunity to increase their MBA network, improve public speaking skills, and give back to the BU MBA community.

Help The Graduate Admission Team Admissions with:

Panelist for Information Session

We host information sessions each month during the evening. Usually from 6:00-8:00 pm on the 4th floor. During these, an admissions representative from our office will give a presentation on the programs we offer here at BU.

About half way through we have a student panel, where the admissions rep actually leaves the room, and the panel will take questions to talk honestly about BU, the admissions process and so the students can talk about their experiences at the School. We look to have 4-5 people in each room for these student led panels – depending on the session and aim to have program diversity throughout the panel. We typically need current students from all programs.

Class Visit Escort

We offer class visits on Monday and Thursday evenings. We have a schedule online of predetermined (and preapproved) classes that students may visit. We need current students available to come about 10-15 minutes before class to the admissions office. They will meet the prospective student, bring them up to the classroom and introduce them to the professor. You may get a few questions, but for the most part, your job is to just get the student from admissions to the classroom.

Answer specific Connect Email (connect@bu.edu)

Each day we receive emails from prospective students asking to connect with a current student. More often than not – they want to talk with someone in a particular program, from a particular place or who may share their interests.  We have current students who help answer this email. Our Graduate Assistants (current students who work in our office) will forward out emails to willing admission ambassadors to help answer.

Admitted Student Open House

Each year we host several Admitted Student Open Houses. These two day events are a way for admitted students to visit campus and get a real sense of what BU is all about.

Panelists: Throughout the Friday session, we host several panels, where we need current students to participate. These include: Life as an MBA Student, MBA Concentration Panel, and Career and Internship Panel

Presenters: We often have presentations during the Open House by current students, past sessions have included a Housing Presenting

Club Representatives: We have current students attend lunch on Friday to talk about the various clubs on campus. We aim to have a representative from each club.

Tour Guides: We offer tours during our open house to all admitted students. You would be showing the students around the building and answer questions they may have. We also often run an optional campus tour. We typically ask 1 ambassador to learn the campus tour script to show students around the campus.

Welcome to BU – Phone Caller

Each year, after the Admission Committee calls or emails each of our admitted students, we have a current student also call and congratulate these students on their acceptance.   Ambassadors are assigned admitted students to call or email based on program, interest area or region.

Attend Local MBA Fair

Throughout our recruiting process, the BU Admissions Team attends fairs around the world to recruit students. We ask for student ambassadors to join us at local Boston fairs to represent BU and talk about their student experience.
